On April 5th, 2006 Officer Kayvan Hazrati was injured (bullet wound to the head) in the line of duty. Despite serious and life-threatening challenges, he has worked hard to recuperate.
During this time, Officer Hazrati has experienced some expected and some unexpected challenges ranging from personal to systematic. He has also discovered other injured officers have encountered many of the same struggles.
The April Five Organization was founded in January 2008, inspired by Officer Hazrati. It’s mission is to
The sworn officers who protect us need to be protected as well.
April Five’s volunteers can help recovering officers with:
Household chores;
Financial assistance with medical bills, personal expenses and lost
wages;
Pro-bono services and medical/legal contacts;
A place to meet others who have been through a similar situation and
share your experiences
We also assist other non-profit organizations in the community that are affiliated with law enforcement officers through sharing of resources and volunteers.
